Why is Magnesium so important and how does it help your body?
Magnesium is involved in over 600 cellular reactions in your body and can benefit your health in remarkable ways. Every cell in your body contains this incredible mineral and needs it to function. Some of the reactions include:
- Magnesium is an essential nutrient for muscles and nerves to work properly.
- Supports a healthy immune system
- Helps bones remain strong
- Adjust blood glucose levels and blood pressure at the right level
- Aids in the production of energy and protein

About 60% of the magnesium in your body occurs in bone, while the rest is in muscles, soft tissues and fluids including blood.
One of its main roles is to act as a cofactor – a helper molecule in the biochemical reactions continuously performed by enzymes. Some of these include:
Energy creation – Converting food into energy
Protein formation – Creating new proteins from amino acids
Gene maintenance – Helping create and repair DNA & RNA
Muscle movements – Aiding in muscle contraction and relaxation
Nervous system regulation – Regulating neurotransmitters which sends messages throughout your brain and nervous system.
Nervous system functioning – Improves fatigue, tension, stress, anxiety, mood, sleep and the entire nervous system.
Brain Function – Acts on NMDA receptors in the brain which helps brain development, learning and memory.
Magnesium is the most essential mineral that our body needs for good health and is a vital component within our cells.
Sadly, 80% of the population has a deficiency in Magnesium. Low levels of Magnesium over time can lead to low calcium and potassium levels. If you don’t have enough Magnesium in your body you might have symptoms such as; headaches, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and weakness. Severe Magnesium deficiency can cause numbness, tingling, muscle cramps, seizures, personality changes and abnormal heart rhythm.
People with Magnesium deficiency are at more of a risk to develop:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Osteoporosis
- Migranes
It is vital to have enough Magnesium, the recommended daily amount for adults 18 years and older are;
400 – 420mg for men
310 – 320mg for women
350 – 360mg for pregnant and lactating mothers
Foods high in Magnesium are:
(Serving size g = amount of magnesium mg)
Pumpkin Seeds 30g = 156mg
Chia Seeds 30g = 111mg
Almonds 30g = 80mg
Spinach boiled ½ cup = 78mg
Cashews 30g = 74mg
Rolled oats, cooked 100g = 29mg
Foods are a good way to obtain nutrients but many factors come into play absorbing Magnesium. Such as:
- Personal digestive issues, like allergies, digestive diseases etc
- Lifestyle factors, different weather seasons, sweating, stress etc.
- Where your food comes from (Overseas, GMO, non – organic, farm position, sprays used on ingredients or in and around the farm)
- Personal diet and what is eaten with magnesium. For example:
- Magnesium helps your body regulate its zinc levels, while zinc does the job of allowing it to absorb Magnesium more effectively. But too much Zinc can block absorption.
- Calcium will disturb Magnesium if you are consuming too much it will begin to push Magnesium outside of cells and overall put a halt to Magnesium absorption throughout the body.
- The active form of Vitamin D (Calcitriol) (Or pure sunshine) helps increase absorption of Magnesium and Magnesium is essential in the metabolism of Vitamin D but taking large doses of Vitamin D can induce severe depletion of Magnesium.
Life is busy and its hard to keep track on what you have eaten and how Magnesium is getting absorbed. At Restore Health we have formulated and designed a convenient, non-mess transdermal Magnesium Roll – on, to help people absorb this vital mineral to take the best care of themselves, their family and it’s packed in a sustainable way to look after the environment.
What is transdermal Magnesium and how does it work?
Transdermal Magnesium is a process when Magnesium is absorbed through the skin. Transdermal Magnesium is the most effective, fastest and safest way for your body to absorb this vital mineral. It is also targeted so you can apply to areas that really need it, for example; your neck or shoulders, if you have a headache or sore neck you can apply it straight there and gets absorbed fast and relaxes the muscle area. Unlike taking a tablet it can take a long time to reach some benefit and each person’s digestive systems could have a tough time digesting the Magnesium.
Our transdermal Magnesium ranges.

We have designed 3 ranges to help customers help with their health journey. In a nut shell;
- Our Wellbeing Range, helps customers maintain their Magnesium and overall good wellbeing. Can be used anytime of the day, my favourite time is morning and the 3pm slump. I put it around my neck and shoulders and gives me a great pick me up. Also I use it 15mins before I exercise, I roll it on my legs before I run, or on my arms if I do strength training. It helps the muscle during exercise and improves recovery time immensely.
- Our relax range, helps customers relax in stressful times and also helps with sleep. Can be used before stressful situations, before exams or before a work presentation to calm the nervous system and relaxes your body and mind. My favourite time is 15mins before bedtime I roll it around my neck and shoulders to fall asleep faster and have a great night sleep. Our regular customers roll it up and down my legs to relieve restless sleep.
- Our Relief range, is our premium powerhouse blend. It combines natures best anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Magnesium, CBD, MSM and 4 incredible anti-inflammatory essential oils. This range helps alleviate more chronic inflammation such as muscle pain, back pain, arthritis pain, anxiety, insomnia and fibromyalgia related pain. Can be used up to 6 times a day, roll the blend over the targeted area. The roll on ball acts as a massage and can be pressed to your comfort level to massage the blend in.
